Someone on my facebook claims to have used an iPhone 5G (with some proof.ish)

So this guy on my facebook posted a new status and the tagline says:
sent via iPhone 5G. The tagline is the facebook text not his own. See attached picture.

Im just wondering if this could be faked or if its legit?

When posting from an iPhone or an iPod touch, it only reflects as "Posted from an iPhone", the same applies to blackberry or an android phone. It does not show what version like iPhone 5G.
