Had a little oops with my iPhone. I committed the ultimate sin! Dropped and it fell at an angle and cracked! Sorry, fellow iPhoners!

Yeah, the phone works perfectly. Just...well..the screen is pretty fuccked up. Just wonder if anyone has any advanced knowledge on the Geek Squad insurance they offer at Best Buy. I have a couple of questions...

-Will this be covered? Can they fix the screen?
-I bought the insurance two days ago. If I go in tomorrow or on Sunday, will the insurance already start working its magic and be processed?

Thanks to anyone who can help! And please don't call me a dumb ass. I know! I felt so crappy after dropping it. I'm definitely investing in a bumper/shield or a case-mate tire-impressed case.

Im a Best Buy employee and no, it wouldn't be covered. But since it is within the 30-day return policy, they will swap it out. But after the 30 days is up something would have to be wrong with it "internally" in order for them to cover it. Sorry about your phone though man :/ I cant wait to get one. I have to wait till tuesday to go to AT&T because Best Buy wont let me get it there because I'm an employee and cant get it till July 25th :(

Damn, really? That's the whole reason I signed on for the Black Tie insurance.

Okay, but I will be able to go in and say "I dropped my phone accidentally." and it could get repaired/replaced? Just as long as I go ASAP?

Yeah for sure, just as long as you do it within 30 days. Yeah ik, its kinda bs, but they are really cool about sending it out if you need too. It just takes a few days but you get a new/refurbished phone.

Damn! There goes me stuck with a $15 / month contract. Ahh, well. I guess it wouldn't hurt to stick with insurance. Ya never know. Thanks for the info, dude. I'll go to my Best Buy tomorrow, for sure.

yeah no problem. It actually is a very good insurance. Thats why im pissed that i cant get the iphone 4 there. I wanted the protection plan that they offer just because its so much more laid back than AT&T and Apple. I had it on my 3GS and all you really have to say is that the battery wont hold a charge or if there is a pixel out, that is considered "internal" and they will cover it for you.

I understand you work at Best Buy... but I don't get this.

The site even says accidental damage. Isn't that the entire point?

OH HELL YEAH!!! haha they must have changed it!! it wasn't like that for the 3GS. I always had to come up with some story so they would take it. haha well then yeah, that means that it WILL be covered. But they dont fix it in the store. they have to send it out which takes just a few days. Thanks for sending me that link though haha now I'm def. going to wait till i can get it at Best Buy

If you want an insurance plan, Best Buy is not worth it.

You'll wanna read this too:

You are covered for accidental damage with no deductible. We had a lady come in last year that RAN OVER her iPhone and we replaced it. They may send it out to be repaired as a "Rapid Exchange" which means you will get a return back, or they may give you another preorder as stock is limited and just exchange it for you on the spot.

I've even had my phone replaced under the plan when I broke my phone. You're fine. Talk to the Best Buy Mobile Reps and they will get the paperwork done for you.
