I noticed that in the Terms and Conditions it says:
This offer is only valid while supplies of qualifying products last.

Which could confirm the hypothesis that Apple is using this promotion to clear out their inventory of Macbooks.

Or everytime any company has promotion with free stuff they have to put this in for legal reason?

They run out of iPods and you buy a Mac, they don't have to give you a free iPod...

I think they mean the qualifying iPods, not macbook...

Duh. This happens every year, either with new computer models or new iPods.

As others have said, it is done for legal reasons to protect them if for whatever reason they were to run out. I have rarely seen any promotion that didn't have the "while supplies last" tag in the fine print. The main reason for this promotion seems to be that they want to expand the market for Application sales.

Actually, everyone else is lying to you. ;)

Apple's stock of all eligible computers and iPod Nanos and Touches will run out after the weekend!!!11!!!one!

Better get yours now before they run out.

Its actually funny because when they were giving away the ipods last fall they introduced the whole new line of ipods right after the promotion ended.

thats one of the purposes of the event to clear stock. usually a new line up is introduced afterwards. but free is free.

That was the point of last year's giveaway, along with ones before that. But this year's is focused on the iPod touch, because it is meant to help sell more Apps and widen the Application market once the 2.0 software is released.

Im thinking that their introducing a cheaper itouch. Cause why would you buy an Ipod Touch when you could just buy the 3G which has Wifi in it for $199. More features for a lot less.

1) It ties you down to a contract. Prices start at $70 before taxes and fees. So much more realistically, your phone bill at the bare minimum is still going to be above $80!

2) AT&T is not the best carrier in every area, or even worth considering in some options. While the iPhone may be "cool," does it warrant dropped calls and lousy service?
