Why be scared? I've never had the ALoD for as long as I've had both iPod touch (since launch day) and iPhone (Since July).
Because it seems it's very common.
I've had it 3 times now, this latest time without being able to restore my backup.
Anyway, people still think that blue screens of death happen on windows machines so I guess these sort of things get spread around easily.
