about a half hour ago i went to yahoo to check my email and they had me to log in. doesn't happen very often but it does happen occasionally. right after that i came to this site and had to relogin here also. went to a car site and had to relogin there also. should i be concerned? i don't do any online banking. all of these sites are supposed to save my logins. mid 2009 macbook running 10.6.8.

You should be more concerned about using autofill in web browsers. There's not a lot of malware out there for Macs but it does exist. One is called "Proton" and it can read and send your autofill items to the originator.

On top of that you're using a version of macOS that hasn't had a security update since July of 2013.

Most online services verify activity and password resets via email. If a hacker gets your email info he/she has a "master key" to almost everything you do.

thanks brian. i use firefox. most sites where i have to login have a little box i check which reads something like stay logged in which i check. firefox will flash up a little box which reads something about autofill which i've never checked. not sure i know the difference in the two.
