Yesterday, I tryed to shut it down, and it did not. I ended up having to hold the power key for awhile.

Then early today, the macbook was sleeping. As I re opened it, the screen just stayed Black.... This is the 3rd time I experience that.

I am a 1st time Mac User btw, so I am not sure if there as common problems. Any suggestions on what I should do?

The mac I use is the new 2.4Ghz, 250 HD, 2G ram from apple. I swapped the 2G and installed a 4G. The only recent "project" I did with my Laptop was installing Win. Xp using bootcamp.

Thankyou for the Help!!

Then I'd say take it back.

If it were me I'd do a full re-install of OS X and not install Windows for a while and see how it gets on.

same thing happening to me. I rarely put my notebook to sleep but when I did, screen remained black and had to pwoer it off.

That's not normal for sure. I do the opposite. I rarely shut down my MB. When I'm done using it, I just close the lid and it goes to sleep. When I need to use it again, I open the lid and it wakes up to right where I left off.

You should send yours in for a repair.
