Sometimes lose ability to move cursor

All of a sudden I'll lose the ability to move the cursor. And then after a restart, the computer thinks I'm trying to connect to a wireless bluetooth keyboard. Weird. The computer is a 2007 MBP model A1226. Any ideas?

Just to update this thread. I have since remedied the issue by taking the battery out and doing a PRAM reset.

You push the power button and then immediately push [option]+[commend]+[R]+[P] all at the same time. You hold the keys down until you hear the third chime and then let it boot up the rest of the way.
