Sometimes the disk won't turn on

I rarely turn my macbook off, and usually just close it to put it to sleep.
Occasionally it won't wake up, and when it does the mouse and keyboard won't work.
Other times I'll have it plugged in and it will go to screen saver, I move the mouse or press a key and nothing happens. I'll push the power button and the screen saver will go away but the mouse and keys won't work.
What is going on??
