Hi,
I bought a Sonnet Encore G4 1333 upgrade for my Powermac G4 Digital Audio.
I have random system crashes, but it generally works. But when I run the geekbench 2.2 the stream copy test lasts indefinitely because the system has various freeze moments.
What could it be for you? Thank You!

I add that the processor is a 1333 XC7455B

Hi,
I will ask you if could it be due to the higher consumption of the new processor for the Digital Audio Power supply??

You don't need a firmware patch for a 7455. If the problem is clearly related to the new CPU (i.e. it doesn't happen other CPUs), then it's probably a temperature problem. You could re-paste the silicon and make sure it has good contact with the heat sink, make sure the fan is working, etc.

You could also try removing half of the RAM, and other typical computer diagnostic stuff.

Hi. Yes, it was a temperature problem! I replaced the thermal paste and then also original the fan with a new one (Gelid Silent 5). Now it is ok, thank you very much.

I get result of 722 with Geekbench 2.2. It is the same result as with my G4 Dual 867Mhz.
