Sonny Dickson (who was very accurate with his iPhone leaks) says mini will have fingerprint reader and same color options as 5S. He claims the mini will have 1GB ram, while the full size iPad will have 2. He posted picks of gold iPad mini with Touch ID.

If this is accurate I'm super excited!

I love the idea of Apple focusing on TouchID. Once enough devices have it (iPhones, iPads, iPods, maybe Macs with the Mouse or Trackpad, and maybe even AppleTV) I can see them adding some really neat features to it. Login to websites, purchase items from the internet, login to your computer, etc... All with a fingerprint.

On a side note, maybe this is what people were talking about when they said the AppleTV would have a ring that would distinguish who was using the AppleTV remote to pick their favorite content. Maybe the ring was confused with the ring around the fingerprint scanner???

this is probably why the original mini started 329 to begin with. if they do a price hike, they could only price hike less this time around.

i.e. let's say they need to price hike to 399.

if mini was 299... then they have to raise 100 bucks to get to 399. whereas it's 329, it's only a 70 price hike.

Makes alot of marketing sense.

Not gonna happen. Apple has been on a 'lowering price' path for quite some time now.

Well the new nexus 7 is more expensive than the previous devie. Of course it was cheaper than the mini to begin with.

Oh yeah! If this is true, it looks like an iPad mini 2 will have a new home this year!

If not, I'll wait till next year. But I really hope this is true!

I can see why it would have an A7 chip - companies will have to develop for 32bit and 64bit otherwise.

It's much more uniform to develop only 64bit across all platforms.

No way can I see it having an m7, most people with a mini don't carry it with them enough for an m7 to be beneficial. I also find touch id a bit off. Same reason as for the m7, people don't take the mini everywhere with them and also aren't constantly unlocking their iPad

I thought people carry their minis everywhere.

That will look nice in Space Grey! Can't wait!

Except it won't, because it doesn't have a metal ring around the home button.

Unfortunately only the white models look good this year. Bring back the slate :( or at least make the fingerprint reader Space grey colored! Not black

He mentions nothing of retina? Does that mean no retina?? :(

Also A7, not A7x right???

Apple hasn't lowered the price of its iOS devices in a long time; I'm not talking about how the 4S is now free on contract. The flagship iPhone has remained the same price and so has the flagship iPad. The Mini was priced a little higher than its competition so when Apple put higher spec components in, like Retina for example, it can stay at its price instead of increasing.
