Just wondering if anyone is using one of thse 32" 1080p LCD TV's as their monitor for their macbook etc and how it works for them?

TVs are intended for viewing from further away than monitors. Although you can use a TV as a monitor but I wouldn't recommend it to you for any length of time. I use my TV as the monitor for my mac mini, but only when watching videos, in all other situations I use screen sharing from my mbp instead to interact with the mini.

nonsense. Televisions are perfectly capable monitors. especially the xbrs which have a plethora of color settings in order to have almost perfect accuracy.

OP: i myself have a 52xbr4 and it is fantastic...razor sharp. just make sure you tweak the settings according to your needs.

At a 1080p 1980x1080 in full pixel mode it should be exactly the same as a computer monitor in every way except size.

Do I have that wrong?

Not exactly a monitor resolution is not 1080p, but support it. It's 1920 by 1200 (16:10 not 16:9 except the dell 2409w) and the resolution of a 32" inch tv is exactly the same than a 24" monitor. In this case, you increase your pixel size.
