just got a new sony comcorder fro xmas. took a bunch of movies but when i downloaded them in iphoto there is no sound when we play them back. please help, any ideas? is there another program that i need to put them in?

thanks!

Video sound

Did you really load them into iPhoto, not iMovie? Assuming you meant iMovie, what cable did you use? Depending on the camcorder, I like the firewire digital video cable...
Good luck

If your camcorder records in an MPEG format or records to disc instead of tape, chances are the resulting file is muxed. You should be able to use MPEG Streamclip to demux and convert the file into an editable format.

these video files are in mpeg format to a disc as you thought. what format can i convert them to in order to edit them?

thanks again to everyone for their help...

>>what format can i convert them to in order to edit them?<<

If you'll be using iMovie for editing, I'd recommend exporting/converting them to the format that iMovie uses natively: DV.
