Does anyone know how this can be remedied...

importing .mpg files captured with the movie feature on the cybershot digital cameras, into imovie or fcp ...for some reason completely leaves out the audio that is there if you were just to play the clip in quicktime..
anybody know why the audio track seeming disappears once brought into fcp or imovie?

its becuase the audio and video tracks are muxed.

you need to demux them into formats that FCP or iMovie can handle.
