I have a lot of footage from my previous camera, the Sony PC1. These are recorded on MiniDV tapes. IIRC this would need a FW cable for transfer, however with absence of FW port on my Macbook and the general consensus that FW to USB does not work, what are my options?

Thanks much :)

what are my options?

Buy a Mac with a Firewire port. Or use another Mac (with a Firewire port) for capturing, then transfer the captured files to a USB drive and then transfer to the MacBook Air.

That said, I can't imagine trying to edit video on that thing.

Thanks, I may just use a friend's Mac to do the capturing, if that is my only option.

I am perfectly happy with editing capabilities of the MBA, but I am not a pro or big time into film editing. :)
