Ok, so I have been trying to transfer my video onto my MAC for quite sometime now and each time I try I get frustrated and stop trying. I am hoping that this is an easy fix.

When I connect my Sony DCR-SR80 and transfer my movies into a folder everything transfers fine but when I try to open one of these I get an error message saying that:

The movie could not be opened.

The file is not a movie file.

This file is a MPG file so I don't understand. I tried dragging and dropping these into IMovie as well but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sony and Mac not compatible?

I have the same problem, (Mac OSx vs. Sony Handycam dsr-sr65) and every few months I take a look online for help but no luck. I guess that is one of the few reasons I should not have bought Sony or Mac; I am surprised they can not be used together (the sales guy from staples said they would; doh!) or that it doesn't say that on one of their sites, or that their is no software that can convert it, or why Sony uses the mpg file extension, etcetera?
