Sony DCRSR40 Mac compatible?

If you're curious, it's a 30GB hard drive camcorder, and I really like it, mainly because of it's price, storage size, and the touch screen. People who have reviewed it have said it only records into MPEG-2, which is not "Mac compatible." Does iMovie import MPEG-2 (I don't have anything to check with)? Or is there another way to edit it? If there isn't, what other Hard Drive recorders do you folks recommend?

It might be a hit and miss. You might have to you quick time MPEG-2 plug in, $30, and convert the video to DV then use it in quicktime.
