I used my 4 to fall asleep to some netflix for the past year, and I have the same issue. Charging is all well and fine, but I'd really like to be able to use it for the reason I got it. I was reading that there was a firmware update to make the touch with iOS4 work, so hopefully there is another firmware update soon to get the 4S to be recognized.

Short version... No, mine does not work either.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I have this clock with the 1.10 firmware. Was able to watch Netflix fine on its screen while the 4s is docked.

Can you guide mw through the process of the fw update. The Sony site was very unhelpful.

Download the 1.10 firmware from Sony's support site and you'll get a zip file. It doesn't matter what operating system you choose when you download the zip file. unzip the contents of the zip file into the root directory of an SD card. Make sure nothing else is on the SD card except for the contents of the zip file. Do not put the contents of the zip file in its own separate folder. Stick the SD card in the back of the Sony Dream Machine and unplug it. Plug it back in and follow the directions on the screen.

1.10 update worked for me, up from 1.07, i thought the the instructions on the sony site couldnt have been much clearer

I just saw the sony website and it has been updated. At the time of the original post there was no guide

Yeah Sony is iffy on their updates.

Remember I couldn't update my Vaio FW graphics drivers past the 2008 level, thus disabling the ability of my graphics card by probably 50%. And Sony kept telling me the site would be updated soon over the course of three years.
