SONY DV tape recorder to FCP problems?

Hi,

I am having massive with my FCP not being able to capture video from my sony gv-d1000e. it is wierd because it acknowledges that the device is there and allows fastforward and device control (no preview in fcp). It sometimes works but only after many restarts and fluke!

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

A few check before being able to provide suggestions.

a) Is your Cam connected via Firewire?
b) What are your "Easy Setup" parameters. Press ctrl-Q (see picture: I have a Sony HDR-HC7. I use HDV settings)
c) You say that you can use the device control buttons. Are you referring to the Log and Capture screen (Command-8).

Check: what happens when you press the "play" button in the Log and Capture screen?
