I have a Sony DCR-SR45. Records digital video on it's internal hard disk (or memory card). Video imports and works perfectly on my HP Laptop with Vista (no jokes about that please). However, I cannot get the videos to import correctly onto my daughter's brand new MacBook with OS X 10.5.5, with iMovie08 or iMovie HD (we added this to her machine to get all the transitions and effects that don't come with 08). Is there a conversion program that will make the video available for use on the Mac, or any other ideas? I've read through lots of these forums and I haven't come across a reasonable solution yet. Thanks

Most likely the camera records in a compressed non-frame format like AVCHD or another MPEG variation (check the camer'a specs to find out which format is used). You'll need to convert the recorded files to an editable format that iMovie works with natively.

MPEG Streamclip may be able to handle that task.
