My parents shot thier vacation on a New Sony DVD Camcorder (DCR-DVD100). It records on Mini-DVD's. The camera has a USB & Firewire Ports. How can I get the Video on to my G5? Should I use the Outputs and tape to a DV Camera or VHS Tape? Can I just get it from the MiniDVD to my G5?

Please help me!

If you want to capture it with iMovie just set the Camera to plackback mode, plug it into your G5 via Firewire/iLink, play the tape off the camera and capture clips of the footage in iMovie :)

Nope...mini dvd camcorders do not work with iMovie.

Ok so use the same cables that the instructions give to transfer to a VHS Machine but instead plug that into a MiniDV Camcorder? I guess the MiniDV Camcorder must have the same imputs as a VHS Machine in order for it to copy the footage?

can't you just put the dvd into your (non-slot loading) dvd drive and use handbrake to rip it to something iMovie can edit?

Finalize the mini DVD

The answer to this riddle is to finalize the DVD before IMovie will recognize and import. Everything works OK after that is completed.
