Sony Handycam HDR-CX430V & iMovie

I got a new Sony Handycam HDR-CX430V 32 GB Camcorder and my iMovie is not recognizing the camera. I have a macbook pro, retina with OSX Mavericks operating system. Anybody know what's up...? The Sony rep was at the store and assured this camera would work with my mac!🙁

I'm using the new iMovie software that came with the Mavericks update

Go to the web-page of Sony and see what software your camcorder is recognisable. Remember shops tell you anything. Also you should have previous iMovie still in your applications. Re-install and try that.
