Sony Handycam HDR-CX430V & iMovie

I got a new Sony Handycam HDR-CX430V 32 GB Camcorder and my iMovie is not recognizing the camera. I have a macbook pro, retina with OSX Mavericks operating system. Anybody know what's up...? The Sony rep was at the store and assured this camera would work with my mac!

I'm using the new iMovie software that came with the Mavericks update

Go to the web-page of Sony and see what software your camcorder is recognisable. Remember shops tell you anything. Also you should have previous iMovie still in your applications. Re-install and try that.
