Need some help. I have read the reviews for both. The items that I have hard dealing with:
I have always used Sony and from reviews the construction feels better.
The Canon, never used before, feels cheep, but had better low light and the 24p filming.
I am a point and shoot, but like to make home movies. I use iMovie, nothing too fancy.
It also needs to be easy for the wife to use because I am gone on deployments and its the only way to see my daughter do things while I am gone.
I have an ibook G4 with 1gb ram. I don't know if that would be good enough for the HD. I can always just hook it up to my HDTV and watch it.
After reading somemore on this if I go with either: For editing--
Export via Firewire. HDV goes to DV format for editing then exporting back to the tape in camcorder, do you need a new tape or will it write over the original?
Plus I hear this way makes the format version 4 times the size, when you export it can it go onto an external hard drive and edit from there?
