SONY HDR-FX1 Connection issues

I am trying to import footage into FCE. I cant seem to get the camera connected to the computer. I have a imac running leopard 10.5.5. Hooked from the camera to the computer is a 4 pin to 8 pin firewire cable.

When i plug it in, the camera pops up a dv-in message and then it goes away really fast. I checked my camera settings along with other threads. uninstalling QT...


any suggestions?

Try using the easy setup menu in final cut, then set up for HDV 1080i 50 , works for me with my FX1
