I am running ilife 11 and just bought a great camcorder, the sony hdr-xr 550v. I have tried figuring out how to import the video i take into my mac, but to no avail.
the software that sony makes with this camera will not load onto my mac, and i am really bummed that the video wont import. i cant even get the camera recognized on the mac.
i have check the forums, but have not found any useable answers....

i welcome your input.
thanks

It seems that this has an SD slot for flash memory. Try copying files to your Mac with the SD card. I forget the exact command but in iMovie under the File menu there is an option about importing a camera archive (wording may be different). Navigate to the SD card and import the video.

I can't promise it works with the SONY. It works this way with other camcorders.
