:D I have a new Imac 20. I have been trying to capture my Sony (DCR-TRV22) mini-dv footage into Imovie and/or Final Cut Exprss with very little success. The sony software does not support OS-X and I cannot find any downloads on sony.com. Any ideas? I'm really new to the Mac world. Thanks.

The USB cable that comes with your camera won't work to transfer video. You need a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable.

Once you have that, you should be able to plug one end into the camera and the other into the iMac and iMovie should find it and import the video.

Sony (DCR-TRV22) problems ensue...

hey there, i have a g4 desktop dual 1gig w/ 1 gig of ram running osx 10.3.8, and i normally use my Canon zr80 no problem.

however, a few of my older minidv tapes are not being played back properly on my canon, yet play back fine on the Sony (DCR-TRV22).

My computer, however, does not recognize the sony at all. in fact, it actually bogs down my computer to the point of programs crashing, and the little mouse coloured cirle to spin endlessly, until i have no choice but to 'force quit'.

for reasons beyond me, this Sony is not working out and is not recognized at ALL by my mac.

any suggestions or help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

thanks in advance!

Did the new FW cable work??

I'm having the same issue (iMovie doesn't recognize my Sony handycam). Went into the Apple store and tried a standard firewire cable but it didn't work. I didn't try the 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable though so wondering if that is the trick?

Thanks

I have the same problem. How do I get my Mac to recognize my Handycam?
