hi, i have a sony camcorder, and have just installed "picture package" which should enable me to convert the contents of my "mini tape" to my mac hard drive. my problem is that i dont know how

can any one help me

Not sure if this is relevant to you but... I dont know about sony picture package software but I have an old sony tape based camcorder and I use imovie 08 to import the footage. Just open imovie with the camcorder connected and imovie should pretty much do the rest.

hi......am trying that now, but my mac wont recognize the connection of the UBS cable to the camcorder.

any suggestions

I think you can only do it via a firewire cable (which probably didn't come with the camcorder) as USB connections aren't quick enough (as is the case with my camcorder)

tks....i had a feeling that was the case....
but....my sony camcorder comes with that docking base which does not have an output for fire wire....

sounds like i am out of luck.....

can any one recomed a camcorder that wrorks with the mac, so i can "plug and play"

may just sell the sony on ebay....

k....let me try that. for a few bucks its worth it.

so if all goes well, i should be able to record the video on my camcorder (mini tape) right to mac?

Yes you should be able to import all the movie footage over pretty easily with imovie 08. You'll see how easy it really is. Good luck :)
