Sony SX40 or SX41

I just purchased the Sony DCR-SX41 (my 4th Sony camcorder; each previous one worked perfectly with my Macs/iMovie). The box says it works with PC, but does not say it works with Mac. I read mixed posts on the web, that it works for some on a Mac, but not others, and "officially" it seems Sony does not support Mac for this camera and Apple does not support this camera (it's not on Apple's list of supported cameras). I got it to upload videos clips and photos to my Mac w/OS 10.5 in iLife08, but could not get that to work in my Mac w/OS 10.4 running earlier versions of iMovie. Does anyone know what the minimum OS and iMovie requirements are for this camera? Is it a driver issue? Also, I could not get iMovie to "control" the camera w/iMovie's controls. Each of my previous Sony camcorders operated from iMovie's controls; am I doing something wrong? Also, I can't get it to send a video signal at all (i.e., to use the camera to send a live video feed to iMovie). Each of my previous Sony camcorders could send a live feed, but the DX41 seems to have a cumbersome uploading interface that prevents it from sending live video. Am I missing something, or is a live feed not possible with this camera?
