Hi guys,

My Uncle has a Sony TRV-260 that uses hi8 tapes and I'm trying to digitize some video for him.

He has a USB cable, but I've done some googling and it seems that I need a firewire cable or a PC. Does anyone know if I can get the video from the tapes onto my mac to edit?

If I just need a firewire cable, where can I buy one?

Thanks.

The TVR-260 is a "Digital8" camcorder ... it can playback Hi8 and standard Video8 tapes.

Yes, you will need a Firewire cable to connect the camcorder to your Mac. Most likely, a 4 pin-to-6 pin cable which you can find at just about any store that sells computer related supplies or even at WalMart.
