I've read the guides but they're not too specific. Looks pretty straightforward

I finally have the cash to pop in a 320gig HD and 4 gigs of ram into my macbook

i understand i need a torx 9

but will this screwdriver work?

also, Is leopard install easy to install on a brand new Hard drive?

That screwdriver should work (#0 is the one that is recommended). Although I believe you need a torx 8 (T8) not a 9.

That looks like a wee phillips screwdriver to me...not a torx...you may want to spend about 2 bucks at your local electronics store and get the proper screwdriver. You won't regret it. Seriously, always use the correct tools so you don't damage anything, a stripped screw is a bitch of a thing to get out.

Cheers

Radio Shack sells a kit for $15 that has a million different sizes in it. Buy it, use it, return it in like new and unused condition. ;)

Golden advice. Don't use a plasma cutter to light a cigarette. Sure they both produce heat, but a match would be much better. Moral of the story: Use the right tools for the job at hand.

Too avoid confusion in my above post. You need both tools, the #0 and the T8.

The #0 is used to take out the bracket that holds in the ram and hd. The T8 is used to remove the hd from it's cradle.

In no way I am endorsing using a small phillips screwdriver to undue a torx screw.

I vote for buying the right tools for the job. You don't want to strip your screws.

Hmm...a plasma cutter for my cigarettes...now there is a novel ide<poof!>

Since screwdrivers have been extensively covered, leopard is easy to install. Once you put the leopard disk in, you need to go into disk utility and format the hard drive before you can install leopard.
