When I sort things by Kind, folders inside the folder I'm sorting aren't always at the top depending on what other file formats are in the folder. Is there a way to make it so folders are always at the top system wide when I sort by Kind?

TotalFinder

The system sorts by kind alphabetically so anything before F will be above. Is this what you mean?

Try this: http://totalfinder.binaryage.com/

Run it at start-up or manually and it modifies Finder. Under preferences>totalfinder>tweaks you should find a check box for folders on top. It also can show system files as an option. I think it used to be free but it looks like it costs $18 now. :( 14-day trial is free. :)

It's exactly what I mean and I already have TotalFinder but had no idea it did this so thank you!
