Sound Card?

Newb here, how do i find out what sound card i have and i need to know how good it is?

You have integrated audio hardware. A card is a card, and you don't have one if you didn't put one in.

If you like, I can look up the manufacturer of the relevant hardware.

Im getting into producing, starting college in sound engineering/music tech at the end of the summer, will i need a good sound card with the system i have, what do you recommend?

That sound card should support optical 5.1 surround sound.

Firewire-based audio interface. I hear MOTU has some really good ones.
