iPod Sound Check

What does the sound check option on my ipod mean??? does it do anything special

i believe it normalizes sound, as in it makes softer songs louder and louder songs softer. it might also do the same with the eq.

If you have a large music collection, be prepared to wait a while. Sound Check will scan the music data in each and every file in your Library to determine the appropriate sound level. This takes a good bit of time per track, so if you have several thousand songs, it's best to let it run overnight.
