sound fades out in garageband '09

I am trying to create a ringtone in garageband '09 and seem to be having trouble. I choose the loop option and then select a song from iTunes to use. It imports the song but when I try to play it, it plays for a few seconds and fades out. It will only play the very beginning of the song. If I select a later part, I hear nothing. I am running Snow Leopard but also had the issue in Leopard. Thanks!

I still haven't been able to figure it out. I never had an issue with garageband '08.
