I have an 80Gbyte Ipod classic that is nearly full. I have often noticed the option to convert mp3's to AAC upon syncing however;

If i choose this option does it just compress/convert the songs on my ipod only or does it also compress/convert the original mp3's that reside in my Itunes library on my IMac?

I would rather leave the original mp3's untouched for copying to my wifes netbook?

Thanks:)

It just compresses them on the fly as the songs transfer. The originals in your library are preserved.
