My 5s makes a faint jiggly sound when I gently shake the phone (mostly towards me + away from me, rather than side to side). It appears that the power button is not secured, because when I put my finger on it the sound almost completely goes away.

Anyone else notice this on theirs?

I was worried about the same thing until I got up here and started reading and found out its normal for the camera lense. No worries.

You're shaking it wrong.

My iPhone 5 does this. And also with people with iPhone 4's do this. It's just a thing. I was told its the vibration sensor at my Apple store.

Lmfao. It's the camera

Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. We don't exactly have an apple store here with exceptional apple geniuses. It's a jump + store lol. Either way I would be more concerned with the clicking sounds I hear when I press on my screen whenever I clean it. That's the kicker.

The rattle is most likely the camera focusing element. When you are not using the camera, the focusing lens is loose and will rattle since it's unpowered. Try turning on the camera, and the sound will likely go away. Both of my 4S' do the same.

You ALL ARE WRONG!!! For the billionth freaking time, this is NOT the camera. This is the sleep/wake button. Hold your power button down and shake the phone. You'll hear nothing. You will a FAINT noise from the camera. Every iPhone 5S I've played with has a loose button. I believe Apple made adjustments because the iPhone 5's power button gave out eventually. Many people had to have warranty replacements for defective power buttons.

It's the power button on mine that rattles

Yay!!! Somebody got it right!

Who cares?

If it's not affecting anything, why stress over it? The phone is under warranty for a year, so if it turns into an actual problem you can deal with it then.

In some cases, it is the camera. The 3Gs camera was known for doing this, even when the buttons were all held.

Mine also does this. Also, if I slightly put my finger on the sleep/wake button, I hear it jiggle a bit. Definitely is the sleep/wake button

I didn't know about this... then found out... did what you said, the rattle is still there when I hold it down.

Umm I held down my on/off button before and my volume buttons, shook it and still heard it.

That's the sound of money! You must have bought a gold one.

Actually, you're wrong, champ. Its the auto focus in the camera and is very normal.

I'm not wrong. On some iPhone 5's the sleep wake button would rattle very loudly. If you held it down, you would experience NO rattle.

No some people don't have loose sleep wake buttons, and don't have the 'loud' rattle. The phone will experience a barely audible rattle if you tap on the lens.

Have a nice day.

My 5 rattled when I got it on launch day and rattles the same way right now. I think it's the camera. Either way, no reason to worry! Enjoy your phone!

Oh, god not this again.

My thoughts exactly, Hey and it's just the beginning.

Get ready for 100+ threads of
"My iPhone 5S made...."
"My iPhone 5S is not...."
"Why is there... on my iPhone 5S"

since the casing is very much similar to the 5, im sure a quick Forum search would bring up similar issues known last year.

You're shaking it wrong. If you shake it the right way, it won't rattle. :D

its the power button.. happens on regular i5 as well. its not a matter of opinion. if you hold the power button there is no rattle. its 100% reproducible. if there is something else rattling you need to exchange the device.

Ah yes, the annual camera-lens rattle thread. Good to see that it's on time this year.
