sound on my macbook pro

I wonder if someone can help me fix the sound on my macbook pro. I installed Boom to enhance the volume and it didn't work well enough so I uninstalled it (I think). Now my computer sound is awful, kind of squeeky glitchy, tinny. It does the same with headphones. Thank you.
