Sound Output Keeps Resetting

Hi,

I have speakers that are connected to my Mac Pro via line out, but the output device keeps automatically resetting to the internal speaker for some reason. Resetting the PRAM didn't work. For the record, I'm running 10.7.5. Anybody know what the problem is here? Thanks.
