I've managed to copy a folder with .VOB files from my mini-DVD to my Macbook Pro's hard disk. I then took Handbrake and tried to convert the .VOB file to a MP4 file. The conversion seemed to go well but the sound skips like crazy! It's like the sound is on fast forward or it sounds like it's breaking up.

How can I fix this? I can rerip the file but I am not sure what setting to use. I used the Apple TV preset but also tried it on my own and seemed to get the sound problem either way.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can render. :)

hay,
Get MPG Streamclip http://www.squared5.com/

Have it open the vob then convert to mp4 or export to something else. If there are problems in the original file this app will tell you and log them. If asked to fix something, say yes ('click OK'). It will not work on encrypted commercial DVD, but unencrypted/unnprotected media is fine.

good luck

The Handbrake people recommend that you use something like MacTheRipper first. Handbrake is good at converting unencrypted vob files and okay at decrypting vob files. MacTheRipper is better at decrypting vob files.

Still some DVD's just don't play nice.
