Sound problems

Hi,

I've noticed today that my QuickTime 7, MSN Messenger and iChat AV sounds aren't there anymore. I've checked the preferences and everything seems fine. Music still plays oon itunes, but most applications have no sound now. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. What Macintosh?
2. What kind of speakers are you using?
3. what is the interface (Audio out Optical, or analogue)
4. anything else you can tell us ?
