Hi guys,

I'm wondering if there is any technical sound quality difference (on paper) between the Beats Studio3 and the Wireless3.

I have them side by side and quickly switching between them on the same tracks and i'm not noticing any major differences..

Are the Studio3 supposed to sound better/louder, or is the premium simply for the extra size and features? (such as noise cancelling)

I purchased the BeatsX for the office last year and absolutely loved them, so much so I bought the more comfortable Solo3 for home use... again I love them and always wondered what the Studio3 sounded like, this week I finally dropped the money on them and feel dissapointed that they pretty much the same as the Solo3.

They're nice big headphones and the ANC does work, but I guess I was kinda expecting the sound quality to be a huge improvement.

The extra price tag doesn't seem worth it if i'm not bothered about the extra size or ANC.

I'm probably going to return them and keep the Solo's but wanted to check if there is any physical differences in their specifications where sound is concerned.

Thanks

I can’t answer your question, but just my 2 cents. I know you’re already thinking of returning them and I think that’s the right move. The reason being, you said you love the Solo3, so why have another pair (Studio3) if you yourself can’t tell the difference in sound even if it happens to be different on paper?

Look at it this way, you go to a clothing store and buy 5 shirts. 4 of them you absolutely love and 1 is just ok but you buy it anyway. Next thing you know that 1 shirt is in the back of your closet never being worn just like your Studio3 will be because you already love the Solo3. Bottom line is they aren’t worth the price tag if the Solo3 suit your needs.

Yeah i'll be returning either way, it was more curiosity than anything as I was expecting them to be of much better quality, but it does not appear to be the case.

It looks like the premium is for the bigger over ear size and ANC.

I personally prefer over ear vs on ear, but you may feel different or like both. I used to have the Studio2 and sold them once the Bose QC35 were released. The comfort and ANC are much better in the Bose IMO, but the Beats went much louder which I miss. If only there were one choice for everything... Might get boring real fast, but at least it would be easier to decide! Good luck!

Can’t answer his question for you or others either.

Te real take home will be comfort: both On the gears over listening. To music over time as well as the headband on your skull. Those with no hair will be very keen on this latter point as an Afro or large thick hair can cushion the pressure of the headband. Solos seem to have less pressure on your head while more pressure on your ears.

My ears are very small and very close to my skull so either over time has caused me uncomfortable listening over 30mins. They both shut down lower than -20 Celsius so neither is good for over the tuke listening in winter for me.
