I've got an iPad 1st generation and it works fine except for one problem.

If I tilt my iPad in a certain direction the sound stops working. I'm guessing it's some sort of loose connection or just faulty hardware.

Any ideas?

I would think the same thing. But no way to check since it is not user replaceable.

Hmm that's a shame.

I have also discovered that when the sound stops, if I press the volume buttons it reads 'headphones' as if I have headphones plugged in. Is this the OS defaulting to headphones as the audio device due to it not detecting the speakers anymore, or could this be a problem with the headphone jack which is fooling the OS into thinking their is something plugged in, which is what causes the speakers to stop.

I don't know much about iPad hardware so I'm not sure if any of that is possible or likely. It's just a theory. :p
