I recently bought a Macbook Pro with Lion OSX 10.7. A handful of times, the sound is unadjustable either through the menu bar shortcut or through System Preferences. I have to restart my computer and it is adjustable each time through restart. I have yet to find a pattern to this issue. I've no other sound issues and I've had this Macbook for just over a month. Any thoughts? Thanks.

This is going to sound stupid but...

When this happens plug in headphones, then unplug them...works every time..

Remember Lion is great :0)

What do you have under System Preferences>Sound>Output when this happens? You might have some plugin/device that takes over the audio system because of another program.

My settings are output for the audio port. I haven't used the audio port for headphones but I have used the port to plug into my tv. This issue started prior to connecting it to my tv and it has no trouble switching from output for my tv to regular output after the tv is disconnected.

This doesn't really bother me because I can restart anytime. Just more of an annoyance (and curiosity).
