Hi I have an old MBA:

connected, via HDMI cable, to a TV.

I keep the lid open, use the keyboard and the sound comes out of the TV, which I like.

When I close the lid, to watch a movie or something, sound output changes, comes out of the MBA's speakers, which I find odd.

Anyone know why that happens, and how can I set it so sound always plays out of the TV, regardless of the lid being open or closed?

Preferences -> Sound, choose the TV as the output. Not sure if it remembers the choice (makes sense that it would).

actually, still happening. I close the lid, sound output changes from TV to internal speakers. Checked Sound in Sys Pref.
I see

reopened the lid, sound still plays through internal speakers. Fiddled with speaker icon on top. Able to get it back to play to LG TV, but when I close the lid it happens again.

I cannot see top speaker icon when lid is closed.

Any ideas?
