Soundcard not recognized!

My MacBook Pro no longer recognizes my soundcard. I've tried looking under UTILITIES and AUDIO MIDI and nothing shows up as well as SYSTEM PREFERENCES and SOUND there's no output or whatever.

This all happened after connecting this MIDI CONTROLLER (BCD3000 DJ) to it and kind of synching with the sound on my laptop. Now I think I can no longer listen to anything directly off of the laptop because when i press the sound button, it shows an "X"

ANY IDEAS !?
