Soundflower and OBS safe to use

I figure OBS is safe, it wasn't on the list of developers so I had to change to install from anywhere for it.

Soundflower is no longer supported and had to use install from anywhere again.

Was wondering if people knew if those two were safe, if not is there an alternative. I think sound flower opens up a kext or something?? I don't know, hopefully a tech savvy person sees this and knows.
