I have a old 2.0GHz core duo MBP that I dropped about two to three years ago.. Its worked great and hasnt had a single issue up till recently. Where I dropped it was the corner where the power plug in is and theres a dent there but not real bad... Yesterday it started making a real loud noise as if something spinning(the HD I assume) was vibrating or rubbing against something, and then all my programs slowed way down.. I backed up my entire HD to and external and its stopped making noise, but considering its only worth like $600 at the very most I dont think its worth my time to pay someone to fix it. I tried to take the case off the lower section but for some reason it didnt want to come off.. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a feeling your HDD is in the state of dying.
