I currently have a old set of the blue JBL Creature speakers. Lately I have been looking into the HK Soundsticks 2.

Do you guys think I will get a noticable difference in sound if I switch to these?

Thanks!

ive ordered some soundsticks along with my mini (3 more weeks YAY), and would not have picked anything else.

the soudsticks have been around since the original imac and are still as good as any of the current sets available.

and they're pretty.

I have the SoundSticks I...
the sound is great for a 2.1 system.

I'm only pissed that I got the SoundStick I's (which use a USB port rather than an audio jack) about a month before the SoundSticks II came out. I don't think there is much of a difference between them other than the output though.

I actually traded out my Soundsticks for some Silver JBL Creatures to match my G5 PowerMac. I had the original Soundsticks with USB speakers and subwoofer. Personally I would say that while the Soundsticks were more powerful they lacked the clarity that the JBL Creatures offer. The Subwoofer on the JBL produces a more balanced low end than the isub that the Soundsticks are used with. I also did not like the fact that they were USB because I would have these weird glitches on my imac G4 with them where the sound would cut out and the only way to fix was either unplug them or restart my whole machine. JBL owns the Harmon Kardon brand and I would say both Creatures and Soundsticks are pretty good speakers for the price points you can't go wrong either way.

Careful where you buy your Soundsticks. I looked at Amazon and was surprised to see the price much lower than elsewhere. They'll actually from Office Depot so I went to the nearest OD to see if I could find them there for the price seen on Amazon -- no. So I went back online and ordered them at around 4pm one afternoon. The next day, at 1:30pm, the doorbell rang and my Soundsticks had arrived! (How do you like that delivery speed?)

They are still in the box awaiting my mini (which was shipped today and will be stateside soon!).

Thanks for all the replies! Is it worth upgrading? In other words spending $120 for another set of speakers. I was under the impression that both are 40w sets, the soundsticks II have a 20w sub and 10w per channel/speaker, but does that mean that it is actually 10w for each little speaker on the sticks, or for the stick as a whole? And then the JBL creature speakers have a 24w sub and 2 8w speakers, putting it at 40w. So, the sub on the creatures have more output which I like, but if overall the soundsticks are better I will get some.

Creature speakers

A friend of mine just got a Mac Mini and the Creature speakers.... he came over and checked out my sound sticks with iSub... hes mad he bought the Creature speakers.

Soundsticks definately sound better, but they should for double the price. You can get a set of Creature II's for $59 bucks. Sounds sticks are $120. For the money, you can't beat the Creatures.

You're right. But . . . I really like these speakers!

Im not trying to take over this thread, but since your on the topic of speakers I thought id ask.... anyway... I went and listened to the sound sticks II today and I tryed comparing them to the logitech Logitech® Z-2300 and the Logitech® Z-5500 Digital, and for some reason, its seems difficult for me to compare the sound of the three in a store vs. actually taking them home. (when I get home I can emmediatly tell the diff btwn good and bad speakers) So I guess my question is which out of the three is A. the best sound quality and B. the best value. even if the answers to my a and b arent the same i still want to hear your opinions. Thanks!

I guess you've never heard Kilpsch, and they are in same price range as the SoundSticks.

P.S. I got mine on eBay for $107 and they blew me away. :D
