Suddenly, my girlfriend's PowerBook has decided not to recognize her Soundsticks (II). I've done the obvious things--restarted, repaired permissions, deleted the audio permission file, etc.--to no avail.

Headphones work just fine in the same jack, so I'm thoroughly confused.

At this point I'd like to know some possible causes/fixes and, if not, whether the problem is more likely in the computer or the speakers.

hurm...

thats a tough one... should be no issues.

1) PB to headphones (any) still work?

2) ST (II) to another device, iPod other Mac still work?

There is no special software or drivers here, it should 'just work'.

If headphones works, it's the speakers. Hav eyou checked the volume setting on the SoundSticks?

Hehe.

Yes I have, but you're right about taking care of the simplest things first. :) Ocham's razor holds very true.

As to the other reply, I haven't tried the sticks with another computer yet, but will in the morning.
