I have had my Mac Pro for a while but never used real speakers until today. Just set my new soundsticks up and they didn't work with the rear speaker out. Then I tried the front headphone and they work great. Is this normal or is something wrong with my Mac Pro? I really hate having that single wire coming from the back, its the only front port that I use.

I don't have a Mac Pro, but are the rear speaker outputs an independent output (they're not on any of the other Macs, as far as I know, but I don't think any of them have front and back ports, either)? Check under Sys Prefs -> Sound -> Output and see if you can change the output device to the line out in the back?
