I was playing half-life 2 today, I then closed it and did other things for a while, and then opened it again, and was shocked to the attached picture: Despite having played the game before, opening it again did not use the data it has previously dumped in inactive memory and instead ate up 660mb MORE free memory turning it into inactive memory. Do I need to restart every time i play this game to stop it eating my memory?

What's the problem - you've got over 2GB free memory and no page ins and outs. As has already been said, just forget it and leave it to sort itself out :)

Well after a few hours of "leaving it to sort itself out", I have even MORE inactive ram?
